Artist Residency
Info Page
The Atelier Now Artist Residency programme encourages submissions from emerging visual artists working with all types of mediums - for example, painting, sculpture, video, photography, textiles, etc.
The residency covers a four month period and offers a working studio space (utilities included) in Dublin for the selected artist to execute new work in. The residency is outcome focused, rather than research based and is aimed at artists who already have their initial concepts in place. Essentially, providing a physical space for artists to develop and execute their ideas.
The ambition of this project is to provide emerging artists with a safe space to engage with and develop new work, while providing additional opportunities to support the growth of their professional career and access to a network of other creatives.
These additional opportunities include:
Mentorship
The Atelier Now team will be available to the artist during their residency, to provide mentorship and professional guidance. They will assist the artist with essential business development skills necessary for their career. Skills such as; managing their business, website development and maintenance, pricing their work and clerical organisation. All with the goal of providing them with the structure needed to set themselves up as a business.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is an important factor in running your own business. At Atelier Now, we feel is very important as an artist to learn how to look after yourself both mentally and physically. This is something that we support, and help to in-still in young artists from the offset. The life of a self employed artist is no easy road, and a strong care of self routine will provide a focus and determination to succeed and will stand to the participant in the long run. Artists will be welcome to join the wellness classes at Atelier Now during their residency.
Print Release
At the end of the residency, the artist will be invited to create an original print release in collaboration with Atelier Now and through the artists own website. All profits from the print release will be paid directly to the artist to encourage further growth after the residency has finished.
Exhibition
Atelier Now will host a group exhibition showcasing all artists who have undertaken the residency programme throughout 2021, alongside other artists that have exhibited work in the gallery to date. This opportunity will provide artists with the valuable exposure to meet other members of the artist community, as well as gallerists and collectors.
